MARYVILLE Mo. - The No. 12-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team earned a 4-3 dual victory over No. 9-ranked Ouachita Baptist University Sunday on the Grube Courts at the Rosewell Tennis Complex.
 
The OBU Tigers came into the match with a pair of ranked doubles teams, but it was the Bearcats who came out on top when all was said and done in doubles action.
 
At No. 1 doubles, Northwest's 
Fillippo Piranomonte and 
Andrea Zamurri recorded a 6-3 win over OBU's Alex Blanchar and Phil Exner. Blanchar and Exner came into Sunday ranked No. 5 in the nation.
 
At No. 2 doubles, the Bearcat duo of 
Fabien Calloud and 
Jan Skerbatis took down No. 30-ranked Fernando Docters and Aaron Osmond, 6-2.
 
Northwest increased the dual lead to 2-0 when 
Simon Birgerson dispatched OBU's Aaron Osmond in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. 
 
OBU got on the board with wins at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles and No. 4 singles. 
 
OBU's Alex Blanchar took down Northwest's 
Andrea Zamurri, 6-4, 6-4. Blanchar came into the match ranked No. 46, while Zamurri was ranked No. 16.
 
OBU's Phil Exner held off Northwest's 
Michael Delebois, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). Exner is ranked No. 11 in the nation, while Delebois is ranked No. 41. 
 
OBU took a 3-2 dual lead when Matias Parzajuk closed out a three-set win over Northwest's 
Jan Skerbatis at No. 4 singles. Parzajuk scored a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win.
 
Northwest leveled the dual at 3-3 with a three-set triumph at No. 3 singles from No. 55-ranked 
Fabien Calloud. Calloud bounced back from a first-set loss to OBU's Fernando Docters. Calloud came back to score wins in the second and third sets by the count of 6-3, 7-5.
 
The dual came down to a back-and-forth affair at No. 5 singles between Northwest's 
Mason Meier and OBU's Ramon Strassmann. Meier captured the first set, 6-4. Strassmann took the second set, 6-2. Meier prevailed in the third, 6-4, to clinch the dual victory for the Bearcats.
 
Northwest stays perfect in MIAA/GAC duals at 5-0. Northwest is 10-5 in dual action. OBU is 8-7 overall and 1-1 in MIAA/GAC dual play.
