JOPLIN, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State softball team recorded its second win of the day with a 6-3 victory over Southwest Baptist.

The Bearcats improved to 11-5 overall this season.

In the third inning,
Abby Nolte got the 'Cats on the board first with a single to left field that scored
Lillie Filger.
Â
Southwest Baptist evened it up at 1-1 with a score off a wild pitch.
Â
SBU took its first lead of the day in the bottom of the fourth after a runner stole second and the runner on third was able to score on the throw to second. Another SBU Bearcat scored off a sacrifice fly to take a 3-1 lead.

Northwest tallied five runs in the top of the sixth.
Madison Friest singled to left field which scored
Omara Love. Two at bats later
Lauren Gray hit a sacrifice fly to left center that brought
Lela Bryant home to tie the score at 3-3. A few batters later,
Olivia Daugherty hit a two-RBI single to center field, scoring
Brylee Kemper and Filger. In the next at bat, Nolte hit a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed
Skylar Pieper to tag and come home to take a 6-3 lead.

Breck Dickey gets the pitching win to move her record to 3-3. Dickey went 6.0 innings with six strikeouts, two hits, and three runs.

Raven Defrain replaced Dickey for the final inning and recorded one strikeout.

The trio of
Lillie Filger,
Abby Nolte, and
Omara Love led the team as they each had two hits. Filger had a team-best two runs, and Nolte and
Olivia Daugherty both tallied two RBIs.
