MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University softball squad dropped both games of the doubleheader against No. 5 Central Oklahoma.

Northwest drops to 15-13 overall, 1-5 MIAA.

UCO improves to 22-3, 6-0 MIAA.

GAME ONE
Central Oklahoma got on the board first as the Bronchos scored four runs in the third inning and tacked on another run in the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth.

The Bearcats got things going in the fourth as they tallied two runs.
Olivia Daugherty hit a homer over the left field fence to give Northwest its first run. Two batters later,
Lauren Gray hit a solo shot over the fence to give the 'Cats their second run of the game.

In the fifth inning,
Madison Friest hit the Bearcats third solo home run of the day to make the score 5-3, Bronchos.
Lillie Filger then doubled to left field which allowed
Skylar Pieper to score and bring the 'Cats to within one at 5-4.

UCO posted two runs in the top of the sixth to increase the lead to 7-4.

The Bronchos took game one by a final score of 7-4.
Â
Both teams finished game one with nine hits.
Lillie Filger,
Lauren Gray, and
Madison Friest all had two hits in the contest.

Jadyn Streigle was tagged with the loss going 5.2 innings allowing eight hits and seven runs. She struck out two batters.

GAME TWO
The Bearcats were the first to score in game two after
Abby Nolte hit a two-run home run over the right field fence to put Northwest up 2-0.
Â
Central Oklahoma took the lead in the top of the second as the Bronchos scored four runs in the inning to take a 4-2 lead.
Â
Northwest got one more run on the board in the bottom of the fifth when
Lauren Gray doubled down the left field line to score
Lillie Filger.
Â
Central Oklahoma put up five runs in the top of the sixth to take a 9-4 lead.
Â
Madison Friest added the final run for the Bearcats with a solo shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the sixth.

The Bronchos hit their own solo home run in the seventh and came away with the 10-4 victory.Â

Breck Dickey went 5.0 innings and was tagged with the loss allowing three hits, four runs, and striking out two batters.

Northwest outhit UCO, 9-7.
Lillie Filger and
Madison Friest led the Bearcats with two hits apiece.
