OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The University of Texas at Tyler posted a 4-3 dual victory over the No. 15-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team in non-conference action on Saturday.
The Patriots tallied four wins in singles action to offset the Bearcats earning the doubles points in the match.
Northwest took a 1-0 lead by earning wins at No. 1 doubles from No. 10-ranked
Jan Skerbatis and
Mason Meier over No. 6-ranked Joaquin Bianchi and Gonzalo Fernandez Gil, 7-5. Northwest's No. 3 doubles pairing of
Andrea Zamurri and
Fillippo Piranomonte tallied a 6-1 win over UT Tyler's Jonas Dixon and Carel Wessel.
The Patriots notched wins at the top three singles spots and then added a win at No. 5 singles to clinch the dual.
Northwest's lone singles wins came from
Mason Meier at No. 4 singles and
Simon Birgerson at No. 6 singles.
Northwest is 1-1 on the season.
