Bearcats top Golden Eagles in 90-76 win

MARSHALL, Minn. - The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team (2-0 overall) picked up its second straight victory against the Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles(0-2 overall), 90-76.  

Four minutes into the game, Northwest was down 14-3, but they fought back in the first quarter. Molly Hartnett broke the Bearcats' scoring drought with a crucial three-pointer. The Golden Eagles led 18–17 at the end of the quarter after Northwest went on a 12–4 run. Ella Moody's layup in the second quarter gave Northwest the eventual 24-23 lead. With three long-range baskets in the first half and 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, Peyton Kelderman led the Bearcats in scoring. Northwest forced nine turnovers while shooting 38.5 percent from the field.   

Minnesota-Crookston led 41-39 at the break. 

Northwest won 90-76 thanks to a 30-point fourth quarter comeback. This is the team's second straight victory this season with 90 or more points. Northwest made 40.6 percent of their three-pointers and 47.2 percent of their field goals.  
The Bearcats forced 17 turnovers as a team, with four steals apiece from Molly Hartnett and Jayna Green.   

With a career-high 22 points on 8 of 12 shots, including 5 of 9 from three-point range, Peyton Kelderman led the Bearcats. Molly Hartnett scored an additional 15 points by making three long-range baskets.   

With six tonight, Caely Kesten set a new career best in assists.   

On Nov. 17, Northwest will play its home opener against William Jewell at 5 p.m.
