MARYVILLE, Mo. -Â The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team netted a 1-1 draw with the No. 25-ranked Washburn University Ichabods on Sunday at the Bearcat Pitch.
The Bearcats used a second-half goal from
Sydney Mueller on a free kick to equalize the match and earn a point in the MIAA standings.
Northwest is 3-4-5 overall and 0-2-3 in MIAA play.
Washburn came into the game with a mark of 10-1-0 and 4-0-0 in MIAA play, and the Bearcats were able to deal the Ichabods their first tie of the season.

Washburn got the scoring started early with a goal from
Mackinly Rohn. It was assisted by Belle Kennedy at the 8:58 mark. Â

After halftime, Sydney Mueller scored her first goal of the season when striking one into the back of the net off of a free kick in the 48th minute. It was the third goal of Mueller's career as a Bearcat.

The two teams' defenses held strong throughout the rest of the match, eventually ending in a 1-1 draw. Â

Northwest had only one total shot in the first half. After halftime, the Bearcats came out more aggressive taking 10 shots with seven shots on-goal. Â
