The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team recorded its second straight shutout victory with a 3-0 triumph over the visiting University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos.
Northwest's
Kaylie Rock tallied two goals and an assist, while
Lily Ellis recorded her school-record breaking 17th career shutout.
Northwest picked up its fifth win of the season and second win in the MIAA in its home finale. Northwest is 5-4-5 on the season and 2-2-3 in the MIAA.
Northwest completed its home portion of the schedule with a 5-1-3 record at Bearcat Pitch.
Rock got the action started with a goal in the 30th minute with an assist from Ximena Arnau. This was only the start of Rock's big day as she recorded her second goal of the match in the 33rd minute, unassisted. Rock found the back of the net as the Central Oklahoma goalkeeper dove for a pass and Rock took advantage of the mistake to tack on another goal for the Bearcats. It is the fourth multi-goal match of Rock's collegiate career.
Northwest's offense didn't hold back as another goal was scored as
Teagan Blackburn scored her second goal of the season at the 35:42 mark, with an assist from Rock. It is Blackburn/s second goal of the season and 19th of her career.
Blackburn's goal gave Northwest a commanding 3-0 lead at the intermission.
The Bearcats had 13 total shots on the day of which 10 of those shots were on-goal. Northwest also ran away with the corner kick differential with seven, compared to Central Oklahoma's three.
Ellis recorded three saves on the day to shut out the Bronchos. Ellis has now taken ownership of the school record in shutouts with 17 in her career.
The Bearcats will now be on a four-game road stretch to finish up the regular season as they will travel to Oklahoma to battle Northeastern State and Rogers State this next week.
