The Northwest Missouri State soccer team scored 3 goals in the final 20 minutes of play to beat Missouri Southern, 3-0.
Northwest found themselves scoreless for the first 70 minutes of play until
Hannah Stirling was able to bury the ball into the right side of the net in the 71
st minute. Just 5 minutes later,
Sophie Cissell found the back of the net off an assist from
Kaylie Rock. Barely two minutes passed before Rock scored a goal of her own off an assist from
Teagan Blackburn.
The three goals were scored within an 8-minute span of play.
The Bearcats had 9 more shots than the Lions in Friday evenings matchup, in addition to earning 7 more corner kicks. Rock led the way with 6 shots, 3 of them on goal.
Lucia Fernandez had the second highest shot total with 3.
The Northwest defense had yet another great showing allowing no goals, just 3 shots on goal, and drew 3 offsides calls against Missouri Southern.
Lily Ellis recorded another shutout, her 5
th one in 6 games while also having 3 saves.
Northwest will play against Central Missouri Sunday, September 18. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
