MARYVILLE, Mo. – The 2022 Northwest Missouri State University M-Club Hall of Fame class has been announced. Six former student-athletes along with the 1991-92 men's track team and the 2006 Bearcat football team will be inducted this fall.
The Class of 2022's individual inductees include early age inductees Harvey Hallum (wrestling) and Larry Maiorano (men's golf) along with modern age inductees of DeShaun Cooper (men's basketball), Jared Erspamer (football), Cassie Lowell Auxier (women's golf) and Jenny Simmons Scherfenberg (women's track & field).

The ages have been established to ensure a focus on candidates from throughout the history of Bearcat athletics. The modern age includes candidates from the last 30 years, while the early age includes candidates from 31-plus years and earlier.
The Class of 2022 will be inducted into the M-Club Hall of Fame during the annual festivities on Friday., Oct. 21 in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom and will be recognized during the Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 22, vs. Northeastern State. The 2022 class will bring the total of individual inductees to 164. The M-Club Hall of Fame was established for individuals in 1980 and teams were first enshrined beginning in 1989.

Four-team NGCA All Scholar-Athlete honoree
Holds Northwest medalist record with eight first-place performances
Tallied 33 top-10 finishes in her collegiate career
Finished her career with the lowest stroke average (81.44) in Bearcat history (Now ranks No. 4).

Voted "Most Valuable Wrestler" by his teammates in 1963

Had a four-year dual meet mark of 42-6
13-time meet medalist (27.0 win percentage based on 48 meets)
Recorded an 83.0% win percentage in match-play
Bearcats went 38-10 during his four-year career
Served as team captain his sophomore, junior and senior seasons

Jenny (Simmons) Scherfenberg – Women's Track & Field (2002-2003)
Captured 2003 NCAA Division II indoor national title in the pole vault
Earned All-America honors at the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
She still holds the No. 2 mark in the indoor pole vault in school history (11'11.75" – set March 1, 2003)

Captured the men's last MIAA indoor track & field championship in 1992
Three individual champions, one relay champion; five runner-up performances

Northwest went 9-0 in MIAA play and 14-1 overall

The Bearcats posted three home playoff wins over Midwestern State (27-0), Chadron State (28-21) and Bloomsburg (33-3)
Head coach Mel Tjeerdsma collected his 8
th MIAA Coach of the Year Award; he was also awarded the Division II Schutt Sports Coach of the Year in 2006
