ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team pounded out a 14-4 road win Saturday over the Missouri Western Griffons in eight innings.
The Bearcats (13-21 overall, 8-14 MIAA) tied a season-high with a 17-hit attack as they sent the Griffons to 7-25 overall and 4-18 in league play.
Freshman
Ryan Williams earned his first four-hit collegiate game by going 4-for-4 with three RBI. It was his fifth multi-hit game of the season.
Sophomore
Caden Diel secured his second three-hit game of the year by going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI.
Junior
Ryan Koski posted his fourth three-hit game with a 3-for-4 performance to go along with two runs scored.
Senior
Donovan Warren went 2-for-3 with three RBI and junior
Drew Mackie matched him with three RBI as well. Mackie went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Senior leadoff batter
Jacob Pinkerton went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Northwest recorded four extra-base hits -- all doubles in the victory.
Starter
Zach Wiese got the win and he pitched six innings. Wiese allowed eight hits and four runs (all earned). He struck out four and walked one.
Josh Mitchell pitched a scoreless seventh inning and
Alexander Lovin struck out two in the eighth to preserve the Bearcat triumph.
