ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri Western Griffons tallied a 7-2 victory Sunday over the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team to take two of three from the Bearcats in the series.
The Griffons used a five-run fifth inning to take control of the rubber match in the series. Missouri Western moves to 8-25 overall and 5-18 in MIAA play, while Northwest drops to 14-22 overall and 8-15 in league games.

Alex Slocum was tagged with the loss. Slocum went 4 2/3 innings on the mound. He gave up seven hits and six runs (all earned). Slocum walked five and struck out four.Â
Northwest managed eight hits but only one extra base hit - a double from senior
Donovan Warren. Warren and
Cole Slibowski each drove in a run.Â
Jacob Pinkerton went 2-for-4 at the plate and picked up a stolen base.
Northwest will be back in action Tuesday at Washburn to wrap up a three-game series with the Ichabods in Topeka, Kan.
