ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri Western Griffons scored a 6-1 victory over the Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team at the Genesis Indoor Courts on Wednesday.
Missouri Western moves to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in MIAA duals, while Northwest drops to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in MIAA play.
Northwest's No. 2 doubles team of
Vera Alenicheva and
Tessa Kwakernaak scored a tiebreak win over MWSU's Esther Guernes and Claudia Iglesias. However, MWSU's No. 1 and No. 3 doubles teams came up with wins to secure the doubles point for the Griffons.
Northwest's
Sofia Pignataro was the lone Bearcat to secure a singles victory. Pignataro picked up a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over MWSU's Isabella MacGibbon at No. 4 singles.
