MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State Softball team split today's matchups, winning game one against Winona State and later falling to Concordia-St. Paul.
GAME ONE
The Bearcats posted an 8-7 victory over the Winona State Warriors in a thrilling extra-inning game.
Winona State came out strong scoring four runs in the first inning. The Bearcats followed that by scoring in three consecutive innings bringing the score to 6-4 in favor of Northwest.
Ady Watts and
Madison Friest each recorded a homer during that stretch.
Winona State was able to regain the lead after scoring one run in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh making its lead 7-6.
The Bearcats entered the bottom of the seventh in need of a run. They found just that with a
Lauren Gray two-out home run to left center to force extra innings.
Northwest held Winona scoreless in the top of the eighth with the score remaining even at 7-7. With two outs in the eighth,
Skylar Pieper ignited a rally with a double.
Jacee Winn then ripped a double to left field to plate Pieper for the game-winning run.

GAME TWO
Concordia-St. Paul posted an 11-7 victory over Northwest in game two.
Northwest took a 2-1 lead after two innings were complete. It was short lived as CSP scored three runs in the third.
They tallied on five more in the fifth extending their lead to 9-2. The Bearcats were able to record three runs of their own in the fifth to close the gap to 9-5.
Both teams scored two runs in the seventh as CSP took the game 11-7 and finished its weekend with a 4-0 mark.
Hayden Simmons took the loss giving up nine runs and six hits.
Christina Campbell also saw action in the circle. She gave up two runs on four hits.
