Bearcat Gatherings
The Northwest Alumni Association has organized Bearcat gatherings for the quarterfinal games. 

Thursday, March 3 - McFadden's Bar & Grill, 1330 Grand Blvd from 6-8 p.m. 

Friday, March 4 - The Quaff Bar & Grill, 1010 Broadway St from 12-2 p.m. 

Should the Bearcats play Saturday and Sunday, the pre-game gatherings will be held at The Quaff Bar & Grill 2 hours prior to tip-off. 
These events are free to Northwest fans of all ages. 

27TH MIAA TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE
Northwest will be making its 27th MIAA Tournament appearance. The Bearcats earned the No. 6 seed and will take on the No. 3 seed Nebraska-Kearney Friday at 2:15 p.m. at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
    It will mark the first MIAA Tournament meeting between the Bearcats and Lopers.

COACH MEYER IN MIAA TOURNEY
Northwest is 1-1 under head coach Austin Meyer in the MIAA Tournament. Meyer guided Northwest to a first-round win over Central Oklahoma in 2020, before falling to Emporia State in the quarterfinals.
    
NORTHWEST'S LAST QUARTERFINAL WIN
Northwest's last quarterfinal victory in the MIAA Tournament came in a 69-62 triumph over Truman State on March 4, 2011. Northwest would go on to win the 2011 MIAA Tournament.

ALL-TIME RESULTS VS. NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
Nebraska-Kearney owns an 11-6 advantage in the all-time series with Northwest. The Lopers have won five straight matchups in the series.
    The Lopers won both encounters with the Bearcats this season by counts of 67-60 in Maryville, Mo., and 68-51 in Kearney, Neb.
    Northwest's last win against UNK came on Jan. 24, 2019, when the Bearcats notched a 74-62 road win over the Lopers.
    Head coach Austin Meyer is 1-5 against Nebraska-Kearney.

NORTHWEST VS. WBCA RANKED FOES
Northwest's last road win over a WBCA ranked opponent came March 14, 2008, in a 72-71 victory over No. 10-ranked West Texas A&M.
    Northwest's last victory over a WBCA ranked foe was on Jan. 21, 2017, when the Bearcats topped No. 23-ranked Fort Hays State in Bearcat Arena, 92-80.
    Northwest last defeated a top-five opponent on Dec. 2, 2009, when the Bearcats scored an 88-76 triumph over No. 5-ranked Emporia State in Maryville.

PROTECTING BEARCAT ARENA
Northwest produced a mark of 11-4 in Bearcat Arena this season. The 11 home wins are the most victories in Bearcat Arena since Northwest posted a perfect 15-0 mark at home in the 2010-11 season.

FIRST REGULAR SEASON SERIES SWEEP OF EMPORIA STATE SINCE 1993
Northwest completed a regular season sweep of the Emporia State Hornets for the first time since the 1992-93 season.
    On Feb. 8, Northwest scored a 70-54 victory at White Auditorium for its first win there since the 2002 season.
    On Monday night, Northwest completed the two-game sweep with a 77-65 triumph over the visiting Hornets in Bearcat Arena.

OVERTIME WIN VS WASHBURN
Northwest recorded a 58-53 overtime win at home against Washburn (Feb. 19). Northwest has a mark of 2-2 in overtime games under the direction of head coach Austin Meyer.

HARNETT SECURES 6TH 20-POINT SCORING GAME WITH 20 AGAINST EMPORIA STATE
Redshirt freshman Molly Hartnett produced her sixth career 20-point scoring game with 20 points in a 77-65 win over Emporia State in Bearcat Arena.
    Hartnett went 5-of-9 from the field and buried 8-of-9 free throws. She also sank two three-pointers against the Hornets.
    Mallory McConkey registered her 50th career double-figure scoring game with 15 points against the Hornets.
    Peyton Kelderman has secured three straight double-figure scoring games with 12 vs. Washburn, 13 vs. Emporia State and 12 at Nebraska-Kearney. Kelderman has scored 10 or more points 12 times this season.

MCCONKEY MAKING IT ALL HAPPEN
Fifth-year senior Mallory McConkey finds a way to contribute in all areas on the floor.
    McConkey leads the team in scoring (11.3 ppg), made field goals (123) and double-figure scoring games (16).
    McConkey ranks second on the team in assists (52).
    McConkey is third on the squad in rebounding (3.8 rpg).
    She is shooting 51.3% from the field.
    Northwest is 13-4 when McConkey scores 10 points per or more. Northwest is 4-7 when McConkey is held below 10 points.

MCCONKEY DIALED IN AT ESU
Senior Mallory McConkey notched the highest field goal percentage game this season by an MIAA player (91.7%) by making 10-of-11 field goals at Emporia State on Feb. 8.
    She ranks tied for No. 8 in the nation this year in highest field goal percentage in a single game among Div. II players.

GREEN WORKING FOR BLOCKS
Sophomore Jayna Green ranks No. 3 on Northwest's all-time blocked shots chart with 103 career shots swatted. She registered 29 blocks as a freshman before notching 33 in 2020-21.
    Green ranks T-No. 6 on Northwest's single-season blocked shots chart with 41 this season. She ranks No. 3 in the MIAA in total blocks.
    Green ranks second on the team in rebounding at 5.6 boards per game.

Molly Hartnett ranks No. 2 on the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game. She has handed out a team-high 72 assists on the year.
    Hartnett ranks No. 5 in the MIAA in free throw percentage (83.2%) as she has made 94-of-113 free throws.

KELDERMAN FINDS A GROOVE FROM 3
True freshman guard Peyton Kelderman has made at least one three-pointer in all 28 games this season. Kelderman has sank at least two three-pointers in 20 of the 28 contests.
    She is the only MIAA player this year to have made a three-pointer in every contest.

FIELDS STEPS UP IN MIAA PLAY
Freshman Kelsey Fields is averaging 5.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in MIAA games this season.
    She has posted a team-best 154 rebounds (57 offensive) in league games.
    Fields has recorded eight games with 10 or more rebounds. She produced a season-high 14 rebounds at Washburn (Jan. 17).

DOUBLE-DOUBLE NOTES FOR 'CATS
Freshman post Kelsey Fields secured her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Lincoln.
    Fields earned her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds at Washburn.

VAZQUEZ MAKING PLAYS
Freshman Evelyn Vazquez registered a career-high nine rebounds in Northwest's 70-54 win at Emporia State on Feb. 8. Vazquez stuffed her stat sheet against the Hornets with seven points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.
    Vazquez has come off the bench in 26 games and is averaging 18.6 minutes per game.
    Vazquez leads the Bearcats in steals (26).
    She ranks third on the squad in assists (44). Vazquez has dished out 37 of her assists in MIAA play.
    She is averaging 5.1 points per game. She scored a season-high 13 points in a win over Missouri S&T.

BEARCATS RANK SECOND IN MIAA IN SCORING DEFENSE
The Bearcats rank No. 2 in the MIAA (No. 26 in the nation) in scoring defense by holding opponents to 56.9 points per game. Nebraska-Kearney leads the league in scoring defense at 55.4 points per contest.
    Northwest has held seven opponents to fewer than 50 points, including a season-low of 29 to McKendree.

HARTNETT DOING CHARITY WORK IN WIN
Redshirt freshman Molly Hartnett sank a career-high 15-of-18 free throws in the 10-point win at Central Oklahoma.
    Her 15 made free throws ranks as the fifth-best single-game total in Bearcat history.

FOUR ROAD WINS IN MIAA PLAY
Northwest has produced four road MIAA victories this season and has a 4-5 mark away from Bearcat Arena in league play.
    Since 2000, the four MIAA road wins rank as the fifth-most for the Bearcat women's basketball program in that time frame.

BEST NON-CONFERENCE SINCE TURN OF THE CENTURY FOR THE BEARCATS
Northwest completed its non-conference slate with a 5-1 record and an 83.3% win percentage - its best since the turn of the century.
    Northwest went 7-2 (77.8%) in 2004 and 2007, 6-2 (75.0%) in 2013 and 8-3 (72.7%) in 2006 for its top non-conference marks since 2000.
    Northwest produced an 14-0 non-conference mark in the 1983-84 season under head coach Wayne Winstead for its best pre-MIAA mark in program history en route to a regular season league crown.

HOT SHOOTING VS MISSOURI SOUTHERN
Northwest shot a season-best 59.0% from the field (23-of-39) in its 61-51 win over Missouri Southern. It is the second time this season that Northwest has shot 50% or better.

SEVEN-GAME WIN STREAK
Northwest's seven-game win streak was the longest for a Bearcat team since an 11-game win streak in the 2010-11 season.
    Northwest's longest win streak in school history is 20 set in the 1983-84 season from Nov. 18, 1983, to Feb. 1, 1984.

50 SEASONS STRONG
The Bearcats are playing in their 50th season as a program. The first women's basketball season was in 1971-72 when head coach Sherri Reeves led the 'Cats to a 9-2 record as MAIAW Champions. Northwest also finished 5th in the AIAW Region VI Tournament where they defeated Wayne (Neb.) State, 74-62, before falling to Kansas State, 70-66.

BEARCATS INK ST. JOE PRODUCT
Northwest Missouri State University head women's basketball  coach Austin Meyer has announced a signee for the Bearcats' 2022-23 recruiting class.
    Ella Moody is a 5'10", guard from St Joseph, Mo. She will graduate from Central High School this spring and has accumulated a 3.9 GPA. Moody was a part of the Class 6 all-state team, the first in Missouri's history. She was selected the Suburban Conference Player of the Year and was an all-district selection, finishing among the Kansas City metro leaders at 19.2 points per game, averaging 6.4 rebounds.
