TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn University Ichabods recorded a 10-1 mid-week MIAA victory over the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team.

Bearcat junior outfielder
Drew Mackie extended his hitting streak to five in a row to tie a season high. Mackie registered two hits for his fifth consecutive multi-hit game.

Donovan Warren singled in the eighth to move his on-base games streak to nine in a row.

Washburn improved to 17-6 overall and 8-2 in MIAA play. Northwest fell to 5-15 overall and 1-9 in league action. Washburn out-hit Northwest, 14-4.

Washburn posted two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first to jump out to a lead.

The Bearcats cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the second.
Jacob Pinkerton and
Ryan Williams were both hit by pitches in back-to-back plate appearances.
Caden Opfer ripped an RBI double down the right field line to score Pinkerton with one out.

Washburn added two more runs on three hits and benefited from a Bearcat error to take a 4-1 lead after two innings of play.

The Ichabods extended the margin to 7-1 in the bottom of the third. The Ichabods plated three runs on four hits.

Washburn tacked on single runs in the seventh and eighth to extend its lead to 10-1.

The Bearcats went with
Kade Barrick (0-1) as the starting pitcher. Barrick worked 2.0 innings and allowed seven hits and five runs (four earned). He walked a batter and struck out one Ichabod.

Tanner Smith pitched 1 1/3 innings and was tagged for three hits. Smith allowed two runs (both earned).
Alexander Lovin went 2 2/3 innings on the mound. He gave up three hits and two runs (both earned). Jake Mitchell relieved Lovin and did not allow a hit in the seventh. Mitchell worked 2.0 innings and was charged with one run, one hit and two walks.
