Henderson State's walk-off homer in 10th knocks off Northwest, 2-1

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Henderson State Reddies hit a walk-off homer in the 10th inning to score a 2-1 victory over the Northwest Missouri State University.

Northwest dropped to 1-1 on the year, while Henderson State stayed perfect at 2-0.

Bearcat starter Zach Wiese tossed five scoreless innings in his first outing of the season. Wiese allowed three hits to go along with a walk and a strikeout.

The Bearcats staked Wiese to a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Brett Holden led off with a single to left-center. Koski drove a single up the middle to move Holden to third. Koski stole second to put a pair of Bearcats in scoring position. Donovan Warren hit into a fielder's choice at shortstop that retired Koski, but allowed Holden to score.

Jacob Gajic came on in relief of Wiese in the sixth. Gajic struck out two Reddies to work around a one-out single.

Northwest had a chance to up the lead in the seventh but ended up leaving a pair in scoring position when Jacob Pinkerton grounded out to third to end the inning.

Gajic allowed a leadoff double to the Reddies in the seventh and eventually gave up a run on a sacrifice fly to center to even the score at 1-1.

The Bearcats loaded the bases after the first two batters were retired in the eighth. Drew Mackie singled, Koski was hit by a pitch and Warren drew a walk to fill the bases. Tyler Peters grounded into a fielder's choice at shortstop to squelch the Bearcat scoring opportunity.

Northwest left two more runners in scoring position in the 10th after Brett Holden and Warren earned walks.

Henderson State's Pate Fullerton drilled a solo home run to center field with one out in the 10th to give the Reddies a 2-1 victory.

Northwest left 11 runners on base, while Henderson State left only five runners stranded in the matchup.

The Bearcats will take on Southern Arkansas Monday at noon in Hot Springs, Ark., at Majestic Park.
