ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Junior
Max Spitzmiller tossed a gem to lead the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team to a season-opening 1-0 win over Ouachita Baptist University.
Spitzmiller pitched four-hit ball and struck out nine as he shut down the OBU offense. Spitzmiller did not register a walk.
Alex Slocum worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record the save for the Bearcats.
The Bearcat offense generated its only run of the game in the second inning.
Donovan Warren led off the second with a double to left-center.
Kaleb Harrison drove Warren home on a single to second base.

Cole Slibowski produced a two-hit performance as he batted leadoff and played second base.
The Bearcats will be back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Henderson State.
