MARYVILLE, Mo. –
Caroline Cunningham was the women's high point scorer of the 2022 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with 23 points as she led the Bearcat women to a second-place team finish in the three-day event held at Hughes Fieldhouse.

Cunningham netted a meet-best 23 team points. She defended her MIAA indoor title in the mile to earn 10 points. She added eight points with a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters. She also tallied five points with a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter race.

The Bearcat men's team placed sixth in the final team standings.

NORTHWEST WOMEN
Caroline Cunningham defended her mile run championship as she bested the field with an MIAA indoor record time of 4:53.54. Cunningham also set the Northwest indoor record in the mile run moving past
Delanie Dykes's time of 4:55.71 set on Feb. 13, 2021.
Alyna Thibault also recorded the seventh-fastest mile time in Bearcat history (5:07.53) as she placed 11th in Sunday's final.

Ally Hammond landed a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles final. She was edged out at the line by Missouri Southern's Claire Luallen for third (8.591-8.600). Hammond's time of 8.60 gives her the second-fastest 60-meter hurdle time in Northwest's indoor history.

Hammond also recorded a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter dash finals. She was clocked at 7.57 as Fort Hays State's Lyric Holman won the race at 7.47. Hammond had set the Northwest school record on Saturday in qualifying with a time of 7.54.

Northwest picked up nine team points in the 400-meter final with
Tiffany Hughey earning third and
Chloe Saenz taking sixth. Hughey posted a time of 55.21, while Saenz was timed at 55.71. Hughey's time ranks as the third-best in program history. Saenz ranks No. 5 in Bearcat history.

Kaylee Harp took sixth and
Jaedy Commins placed seventh in the 600-yard dash. Harp posted a time of 1:24.46, while Commins earned a 1:25.30. The duo added five team points for the Bearcats.

Bailey Blake notched a third-place finish in the 800-meter final. She posted a time of 2:11.37 to score six team points for the Bearcats.

Cunningham and
Amber Owens each earned top-six finishes in the 3,000-meter run. Cunningham took fourth place (10:06.00), while Owens claimed sixth place (10:06.84). Owens ran a personal-best, which ranks No. 3 in school history.

The Bearcat women's 4x400 relay squad consisting of
Chloe Saenz,
Tiffany Hughey,
Jaedy Commins and
Bailey Blake broke the school record with a clocking of 3:44.84. The Bearcat relay squad placed second in the race behind Lincoln's time of 3:42.08. The quartet added eight teams points to the Bearcat total.

Quinn Weakly tallied a team point with an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 12.33m (40'5.5") on her sixth and final throw of the competition.

NORTHWEST MEN
Jake Norris placed eighth in the men's mile with a time of 4:14.30. His finish gave the Northwest men a team point in the standings.

Joel Dos Santos secured two team points with a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter dash. Dos Santos ran a 6.91 race on Sunday.

Prince Griffin gave the Northwest men two points in the 400-meter dash final with a seventh-place effort. Griffin was clocked at 48.63 on Sunday.

A trio of Bearcats earned points in the 600-yard final.
R.J. Williams placed second and scored eight points with a time of 1:11.16.
Federico Crisci took second for six points (1:11.19).
Samuel Maldonado claimed sixth place and three team points with a clocking of 1:12.25. Williams holds the third-best time in Bearcat history, while Crisci owns the fourth-best time. Maldonado claims the 10th-best time in program history.

Enrico Cavagna netted two team points with a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter final. Cavagna clocked in with a time of 21.76 on Sunday.

Reece Smith recorded a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. Smith was timed at 8:11.03 on Sunday, as he finished behind Missouri Southern's Ryan Riddle (8:06.33). Smith added eight team points to the Bearcat total.
