Northwest outdoor track and field claims 49 spots on MIAA Academic Honor Roll

The Northwest Missouri State University outdoor track & field teams had 49 individuals (26 men, 23 women) earn MIAA academic recognition for their work in the classroom on the competition platform.

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its Academic Awards for the 2025-26 men's and women's outdoor track and field season. Four hundred and eighty-five student-athletes from all 21 MIAA indoor track and field programs were named to the Association's Academic Honor Roll while 54 athletes earned the league's Academic Excellence award and 52 were named Scholar-Athletes. 

The prestigious MIAA Academic Excellence Award was achieved by 54 student-athletes (34 women, 20 men) in outdoor track and field including five from Northwest Missouri State. The Bearcats had Jadyn Barnes, Austin Goetsche, Grace Hill, Taylor McCreedy and Bentley St. John earn perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. 

The Scholar-Athlete distinction went to 52 student-athletes (31 women, 21 men). Northwest's nine Scholar-Athlete recipients were Krysta Abel, Logan Arellano, Jadyn Barnes, Marie DeaBarnabe Gabillet, Mayson Hartley, Christian Lanphier, Maxime Touron and Riley Witt. A Scholar-Athlete is an individual that has a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors for the current season. 

In the Academic Honor Roll category, 485 student-athletes (243 women, 242 men) were mentioned. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
