The Northwest Missouri State University will serve as the host for the 2022 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday-Sunday in the Hughes Fieldhouse.
This marks the second time the Hughes Fieldhouse been the site for the MIAA indoor championships. Northwest also hosted the event in 2019.
The 2022 championship meet will be live streamed on The MIAA Network (subscription required) and live meet results will be available via BlackSquirrelTiming.com.
The Northwest men have captured four MIAA team championships (1949, 1950, 1982 and 1992). Central Missouri holds the MIAA mark with 21 men's team titles.
The Northwest women have been crowned MIAA team champions on two occasions (1997 and 1998). Central Missouri has won the most women's MIAA indoor titles (9).
The Bearcat women's team is ranked No. 14 in the USTFCCCA's Track & Field Rating Index.
In the USTFCCCA's Central Regional rankings, the Bearcat women are No. 6 and the men are No. 10.
Caroline Cunningham is the returning MIAA champion in the women's mile. She won the title last year in Topeka, Kan., with a time of 4:57.13.
TOP NATIONAL MARKS – NORTHWEST WOMEN
The Bearcat women have produced 14 NCAA provisional qualifying times/marks this season.
60 Meters
Ally Hammond ranks No. 35 in the nation with a 7.65 time set at the Bearcat Invite. It is the fifth-best time in the MIAA this season. It ranks No. 9 in the Central Region.
60 Hurdles
Hammond also notched a provisional time in the 60-meter hurdles at the Friday Night Lights Last Chance event in the Hughes Fieldhouse last Friday. Hammond posted a time of 8.75, which ranks No. 22 in the nation. Hammond's time ranks No. 8 in the MIAA and No. 11 in the NCAA Central Region.
Sarah Prickett owns the No. 22-ranked time in the country in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.79. Prickett ranks No. 10 in the MIAA and No. 13 in the Central Region this season.
200 Meters
Luisarys Toledo has the No. 27-best time in the country (24.83). Toledo earned that time at the Bearcat Invite. Toledo ranks No. 3 in the MIAA and No. 10 in the Central Region in the 200 meters.
400 Meters
Luisarys Toledo posted the third-best time (54.73) in the nation this year in the 400m at the Jayhawk Classic. She holds the top mark in the MIAA and the Central Region in the 400m. Toledo earned that time at the Gorilla Classic (Feb. 11).
Tiffany Hughey secured a provisional time (55.82) at the Friday Night Lights Last Chance event in Hughes Fieldhouse. Hughey ranks No. 8 in the Central Region.
Chloe Saenz has the 26th-best time in the 400 meters with a time of :56.29 also set at the Jayhawk Classic. Saenz holds the No. 7 mark in the MIAA this year. Saenz ranks No. 12 in the NCAA Central Region.
800 Meters
Bailey Blake broke the school record in the 800m and has produced the 11th-best provisional mark in the country (2:10.39). Bailey posted the school-record breaking time at the Friday Night Lights Last Chance meet in Hughes Fieldhouse. It ranks as the best time in the MIAA and No. 3 in the NCAA Central Region this season.
Kaylee Harp also earned an NCAA provisional qualifying time at the Friday Night Lights Last Chance event with a clocking of 2:13.36 – which ranks as the fourth-best time in Bearcat indoor history. Her time ranks No. 5 in the MIAA and No. 10 in the NCAA Central Region.
5,000 Meters
Caroline Cunningham owns the No. 31st-ranked time in the country in the 5,000 meters. She covered the distance in 17:04.92 at the Ichabod Invite. Her 5,000-meter time ranks as second-best in the MIAA this season. It ranks as the fourth-best in the NCAA Central Region.
High Jump
Jada Shanklin tied the school record in the women's high jump and posted an NCAA provisional jump of 5'10". Shanklin equaled the mark set by Jacschelle Sasser on Feb. 10, 1995. Shanklin's jump ranks as the second-highest mark in the country. Her jump ranks as the best mark in the MIAA and NCAA Central Region this season.
Long Jump
Luisarys Toledo procured the third-best women's indoor long jump in school history with a leap of 19'1" (5.81m). Toledo placed sixth in the meet with an NCAA provisional qualifying jump. Toledo ranks No. 18 in the country in the long jump. Toledo ranks No. 3 in the MIAA and No. 9 in the Central Region in the long jump.
Pentathlon
Freshman
Anna Gladstone earned an NCAA provisional mark in the pentathlon with 3,279 points at the Bearcat Invite, which ranks No. 33 in the nation. Gladstone's previous best in the heptathlon had been 3,188 at the 2021 MIAA indoor championships in Topeka, Kan. Gladstone ranks No. 8 in the MIAA and No. 13 in the Central Region in the pentathlon this season.
4x400 Relay
The 4x400 relay team of
Chloe Saenz,
Jaedy Commins,
Tiffany Hughey and
Luisarys Toledo set the Northwest indoor school record (3:46.53) at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic on Dec. 4 in the Hughes Fieldhouse. At the Jayhawk Classic, the quartet of Saenz, Hughey, Commins and Toledo wrapped up the competition with a blazing second-place finish in a time of 3:47.64 for the second-fastest clocking in the program's indoor history. The Kansas "A" squad won the event with a time of 3:47.29 – edging out the Bearcat quartet by 35-hundredths of a second. Toledo ran the final 400 leg in an incredible time of :54.931 to push past Lincoln for second place. The Bearcat time is converted to 3:44.66 and ranks as the fourth-best time in the nation and second-fastest time in the MIAA this year. The 4x400 relay ranks No. 3 in the Central Region.

The Northwest men have produced seven NCAA provisional qualifying times or marks this season.
60 Meters
Joel Dos Santos possesses the No. 32nd-ranked time in the 60 meters after posting a time of 6.83 at the Northwest Open (Jan. 22). He ranks as the fifth-best 60-meter time in the MIAA. Dos Santos ranks No. 7 in the NCAA Central Region.
200 Meters
Enrico Cavagna produced an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the men's 200m with a clocking of 21.68 at the Friday Night Lights Last Chance meet in the Hughes Fieldhouse. Cavagna's time ranks No. 37 in the nation. He ranks No. 5 in the MIAA and No. 6 in the Central Region.
3,000 Meters
Reece Smith nabbed an NCAA provisional time with an 8:12.87 clocking in the 3,000 meters at the Bearcat Invite (Feb. 5), which ranks No. 35 in the nation. Smith's time of 8:12.87 is the third-best time in the MIAA. Smith ranks No. 5 in the NCAA Central Region.
High Jump
Blake Morgan ranks No. 7 in the nation and No. 2 in the MIAA in the high jump with a leap of 7'0.25" at the Northwest Open. Morgan set a personal best with a leap of 2.14m (7'0.25") to capture the high jump title and rank as the second-best indoor jump in school history. Kevin Schultz and Morgan are the only two Bearcats in program history to have cleared 7'0" in the indoor high jump. Morgan ranks No. 3 in the NCAA Central Region.
Long Jump
Joel Dos Santos ranks No. 25 in the long jump with a leap of 23'9" at the Washburn Rust Buster (Jan. 15). Dos Santos's jump is tied for the sixth-best indoor long jump in Bearcat history. His jump ranks No. 7 in the MIAA and No. 11 in the Central Region this season.
4x400 Relay
The 4x400 relay team of

Samuel Maldonado,
Prince Griffin and
Federico Crisci have tallied the 29th-best time in the nation. The Bearcat relay squad posted a time of 3:15.92 at the Northwest Open. It also ranks as the third-best time in the MIAA this season. The quartet also has the seventh-best 4x400 relay time in Northwest's indoor history. They rank No. 5 in the MIAA this season. The 4x400 squad has produced the eighth-best time in the NCAA Central Region.
Distance Medley Relay
The Northwest men's distance medley relay squad produced the 15th-fastest time in the country and the third-best time in school history as they flew around the Hughes track in a clocking of 9:55.47 at the Bearcat Invite (Feb. 4). The quartet of
