NORTHWEST RETURNS HOME FOR EMPORIA ST, WASHBURN
The Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team (23-3 overall, 16-2 MIAA) returns to Bearcat Arena following a four-game stretch of road contests. Northwest will match up with the Emporia State Hornets (18-6 overall, 13-5 MIAA) Monday prior to a Saturday engagement with the Washburn Ichabods (15-9 overall, 12-6 MIAA).

ALL-TIME VS. EMPORIA STATE
Northwest holds a 48-24 lead in the all-time series with Emporia State.
    Northwest has defeated Emporia State eight straight times in Bearcat Arena.
    Overall, Northwest has won nine of the last 10 encounters with Emporia State.
    The Hornets posted a 75-56 win over the Bearcats in Emporia, Kan., last week.
    Head coach Ben McCollum is 16-4 vs. Emporia State.

ALL-TIME VS. WASHBURN
Washburn owns a 65-52 lead in the all-time series with Northwest.
    Washburn is the last team to defeat Northwest in Bearcat Arena. The Ichabods accomplished the feat two times during the 2020-21 season.
    Northest posted a 71-63 victory over Washburn in the previous meeting this year in Topeka, Kan.
    Head coach Ben McCollum is 18-9 vs. Washburn since taking over the Bearcat program.

Saturday's matchup with Washburn will be a Pink Out game. Check out the online auction site for all of your bid needs. The online auction begins at 9 a.m. Thursday and will close at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Winners will be notified via text message to pick up items at the game or arrangements can be made to pick up items at a later date.

Since the start of the 2011-12 season, Northwest has compiled a home mark of 148-11, including a tally of 98-8 in MIAA play.
    Since Jan. 14, 2015, Northwest has compiled a home record of 105-4. In that same stretch, Northwest is 72-2 in home MIAA contests.
    Northwest is 11-0 in Bearcat Arena this season.

BEARCATS BOUND TO BOUNCE BACK
Northwest has played 216 games since last losing back-to-back games. Northwest's last back-to-back losses came Dec. 18/Dec. 20 2015 at Lincoln and at Lindenwood.

SEASON-LOW FOR POINTS
Northwest was held to a season-low point total in a 75-56 loss at Emporia State last Tuesday.
    Northwest's previous scoring low this year had been in a 64-59 win over Seattle Pacific.
    The 56 points scored is the lowest scoring output by a Bearcat men's basketball since a 55-51 victory over Mercyhurst in the 2019 Elite Eight in Evansville, Ind., on March 27, 2019.

6TH LOSS IN 126 GAMES FOR BEARCATS
Northwest suffered only its sixth loss in its last 126 games.
    In fact, Northwest has lost by double digits only five times since the start of the 2015-16 season.
    The 19-point margin at Emporia State is Northwest's largest losing margin since a 22-point loss at Southwest Minnesota State (72-50) on Nov. 10, 2013.

RARE DOUBLE-DIGIT DEFEAT
Emporia State performed only the 29th double-digit defeat of head coach Ben McCollum since he took over the program in 2009-10. McCollum has an overall record of 322-81 at Northwest.
    It's only the sixth double-digit defeat for Northwest in the last eight seasons.

TREVOR TAKES OVER MIAA RECORD FOR THREES IN A YEAR
Trevor Hudgins has sank 123 three-pointers to set the Northwest and MIAA single-season records for made treys.
    Northwest's Joey Witthus set the old Northwest single-season school record with 114 make triples in the 2018-19 season.
    The MIAA single-season record for three-pointers made of 118 was previously held by Missouri S&T's Duane Huddleston all the way back in the 1987-88 season.

HUDGINS SETS MIAA MARK FOR CAREER STARTS
Trevor Hudgins has started more MIAA games (126) than any player in league history.
    Hudgins surpassed Justin Pitts's league record of 122 career starts when he started his 123rd career game at Missouri Western. Hudgins has helped Northwest to a mark of 120-6, three regular season MIAA crowns and two NCAA Division II national titles.


40-MINUTE MEN
Trevor Hudgins played all 40 minutes of Northwest's 80-68 win at Pittsburg State.
    Hudgins and Wes Dreamer clocked all 40 minutes in Saturday's 71-64 win at Missouri Southern.
    Five current Bearcat have played at least one game of 40 minutes or more in their careers. Hudgins leads the way with 42 career games of 40 minutes or more.

Junior Trevor Hudgins secured his third 600-plus scoring season for the Bearcats. Hudgins has recorded 639 points this season.
    Hudgins already has three of Northwest's top-10 scoring seasons under his belt with No. 4 (712 in 2018-19), No. 7 (639 in 2021-21) and No. 8 (626 in 2019-20).

3-POINT GAME RECORD GOES DOWN AGAIN
For the fourth time this season the Bearcat single-game record for three-pointers has been either matched or broken.
    Trevor Hudgins buried 11 three-pointers in scoring 39 points at Central Oklahoma.    
    Hudgins also sank 11 three-pointers against Saint Mary (Dec. 29) and against Rogers State (Dec. 4).

Bearcat head coach Ben McCollum ranks No. 7 on the MIAA's all-time head coaching wins list with 323. Former Bearcat leader Steve Tappmeyer holds down the No. 4 spot with 408 wins when he was at Northwest.
    Ben McCollum has a mark of 199-57 in MIAA games only. McCollum is looking to become only the fifth head coach in league history to record 200 or more MIAA regular season victories. Tappmeyer holds the Northwest record for MIAA wins with a mark of 213-143 in 21 years.

MASCARI NETS CAREER-HIGH 11 VS MSSU
Redshirt freshman guard Mitch Mascari tallied a career-high 11 points in Northwest's 82-71 win over Missouri Southern.
    Mascari knocked in a trio of first-half three-pointers. Mascari did not miss from deep as he finished the game 3-for-3 from three-point range.

MCCOLLUM HAS BEARCATS DEFENSIVE
When the Bearcats hold an opponent to 59 points or less, head coach Ben McCollum has guided Northwest to a mark of 140-5 in his 13-year career.
    Northwest limited Central Missouri to 49 points marking the ninth time this season the Bearcats have held an opponent to 59 points or less.

'CATS, MCCOLLUM ROLLING IN BIG VICTORIES
Under head coach Ben McCollum the Bearcats are 130-3 in games decided by 20 points or more.
    Northwest has won 128 consecutive games when the final scoring margin is 20 or more points. The last time the Bearcats lost a game by 20 points or more came Jan. 20, 2010, when Missouri Southern posted an 88-63 win in Joplin, Missouri.

20 3-POINTERS IN A GAME
For the second time this season, Northwest reached 20 three-pointers made in a single game.
    Northwest set its single-game school record against Briar Cliff with 22 made three-pointers.
    Saturday, Northwest sank 20 three-pointers in its 89-49 win over Central Missouri.
    It's only the third time in school history Northwest has made 20 or more triples in a game.
    Northwest is the only NCAA Div. II school in the nation to have more than one 20-three pointers made in a game this season.

TWO SECOND-HALVES ARE OFF THE CHARTS
If you combine the scoring and shooting percentages the Bearcats have produced in their last two second halves they are off the charts.
    Northwest poured in 69 points in the second half vs. Lincoln and added 50 more in the second half vs. Central Missouri. Northwest averaged 59.5 points per second half this past week.
    Northwest shot 24-of-27 (88.9%) against Lincoln in the final 20 minutes. Northwest buried 17-of-25 (68.0%) against Central Missouri. Combined in the two halves, Northwest shot 78.8%.
    From three-point range, Northwest was 14-of-17 (82.4%) against Lincoln and 14-of-20 (70.0%) vs. Central Missouri. For the two games, Northwest would be 28-of-37 (75.7%) from deep.

A TALE OF TWO HALVES
Northwest erupted for a 69-point second half in bouncing Lincoln, 96-63.
    The Bearcats began the game shooting 4-of-18 from the field and trailed by 19 points at 32-13 with 3:58 left in the first half.
    Northwest proceeded to hit Lincoln with a 58-8 run, while making 24-of-27 second-half field goals (88.9%). Northwest drained 14-of-17 three-pointers (82.4%) in the final 20 minutes, including a perfect 6-of-6 from Trevor Hudgins.

HUDGINS SETS MIAA RECORD FOR CONSECUTIVE FTS
Junior guard Trevor Hudgins set the MIAA record for consecutive free throws made at 48 in a row.
    Hudgins missed his final attempt on Saturday at Nebraska-Kearney after making his first seven attempts of the game. His streak of 48 in a row began Nov. 23 against Truman State.
    Hudgins has made 80-of-87 free throw attempts for 92.0% this season.
    Northern Kentucky's Paul Claxton holds the all-time NCAA Division II record with 94 consecutive free throw makes.

HUDGINS CLAIMS 3RD MIAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONOR THIS SEASON
For the third time this season and 10th time in his career, Trevor Hudgins has been named the MIAA's men's basketball athlete of the week.
    Hudgins tied his own single-game school record with 11 made three-pointers as he tallied 38 points in a non-conference win over Saint Mary (Kan.). Hudgins went 13-of-19 from the field, including 11-of-17 from three-point land, in securing his fourth 30-point scoring game of the season. Hudgins handed out two assists, grabbed two rebounds and tallied two steals as he played 35 minutes against the Spires.

NORTHWEST SETS SINGLE-GAME SHOOTING MARK
In its last game before the holiday break, Northwest shot a single-game school record 72.9% from the field in a 101-63 thrashing of Missouri Western.
    The Bearcats drained 35-of-48 field goals, including 20-of-25 (80%) in the second half.
    The previous school record for highest field goal percentage in a game came against Lindenwoon on Feb. 4, 2017, when the Bearcats shot 67.9% from the floor in a 89-64 victory in St. Charles, Mo.

BEARCATS BLITZ GRIFFONS FOR FIRST 100-POINT GAME IN LONG-TIME SERIES
Northwest posted 101 points against Missouri Western - the most point produced by a Bearcat team in the series with the Griffons. Northwest has reached 90 or more points nine times against Missouri Western.

ABREU TALLIES CAREER-HIGH OFF THE BENCH
Redshirt freshman Daniel Abreu contributed a career-high 26 points off the bench in less than 20 minutes of action in Northwest's 84-54 road triumph at Lincoln.
    Abreu went 9-of-11 from the field and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.

HUDGINS CAPTURES 2ND MIAA POW HONORS
After pouring in a career-high 40 points and setting the Northwest Missouri State University single-game three-point field goals made mark (11), junior point guard Trevor Hudgins has been named the MIAA's men's basketball athlete of the week.
    It is the second time this season, and ninth time in his career, Hudgins has been honored with the MIAA's top weekly honor.
    Hudgins averaged 33.0 points per game and shot 57.1% from the field, including 58.6% from three-point land in leading Northwest to a 2-0 start to MIAA play.
    Hudgins tallied a career-high 40 points and set the Northwest single-game three-point record by making 11 threes against the Hillcats. Hudgins played nearly 33 minutes against the Hillcats on Saturday and was 13-of-21 from the floor. He was 11-of-18 from three-point range. Hudgins also handed out five assists vs. Rogers State.
    On Thursday night, Hudgins scored a game-high 26 points on 7-of-14 shooting vs. Northeastern State. Hudgins made 6-of-11 three-pointers vs. NSU.
    Over the two games, Hudgins also sank all nine of his free throw attempts.

TREVOR EARNS MIAA ATHLETE OF WEEK
Junior guard Trevor Hudgins has been named the MIAA men's basketball athlete of the week.
    It is the first time this season, and eighth time in his career, Hudgins has been honored with the MIAA's top weekly honor. 
    The Manhattan, Kan., native knocked in nine three-pointers and secured his eighth career 30-point game in leading No. 1-ranked Northwest to a 78-65 win over a previously unbeaten Missouri St. Louis squad at the Hillyard Classic in St. Joseph, Mo.

GETTING OFF TO A POSITIVE START IN MIAA PLAY
Northwest has won its MIAA opener in each of the last 11 seasons. Bearcat head coach Ben McCollum is 11-2 in MIAA openers.

BEARCATS HIT A SCHOOL-RECORD 22 THREES
Northwest sank a single game school-record 22 three-pointers in its 98-66 win over Briar Cliff.
    The previous mark of 20 had been set against Manhattan Christian on Nov. 19, 2004.
    Northwest also set its team single-game record for three-pointers attempted (41) against Briar Cliff. The previous mark of 39 was set against Emporia State on Jan. 9, 2019.
    The 22 made threes is the second-best performance this year by a Division II team. Southeastern Oklahoma State made 23 three-pointers vs. Arlington Baptist on Nov. 17.

RARE NON-CONF REGULAR SEASON LOSS
Northwest suffered its first non-conference regular season loss for the first time in nearly six years in Sioux Falls pulled off the 83-77 victory in Kansas City.
    Prior to the loss to the Cougars, Northwest's last regular season non-conference loss came at No. 1-ranked Augustana on Nov. 19, 2015.

LESS THAN 50
Northwest improved to 31-2 when holding the opposition to 50 points or less under head coach Ben McCollum following a 77-46 triumph over Flagler in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

41 FREE THROW ATTEMPTS
Northwest attempted 41 free throws in its 64-59 win over No. 21-ranked Seattle Pacific. It was the most free throws attempted since also getting 41 free throw tries against Missouri Southern on March 1, 2007.
    Northwest connected on 29-of-41 at the free throw line against Seattle Pacific. Junior guard Trevor Hudgins led the way by making 15-of-16 at the charity stripe.
