ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The No. 18-ranked Henderson State Reddies closed out its own invitational with a 16-6 seven-inning victory over the Northwest Missouri State University baseball squad.

Northwest split its four games over the weekend and sits at 3-4 overall after two weeks of action.

First baseman
Tyler Peters got the scoring going in the top of the second with a solo home run to left field.
Â
The Reddies gained the lead with a two-run second inning. Henderson State took control of the contest with back-to-back six-run outbursts in the third and fourth innings.

Peters knocked in his second run of the game on a groundout in the top of the fourth. Peters hit a comebacker to the pitcher that allowed
Ryan Koski to score and cut the HSU lead to 14-2.

The Bearcats got two more back in the top of the sixth on an infield groundout by
Jordan Peck and a sacrifice fly from
Jake Emhardt. Peck knocked in Koski and Emhardt drove in
Ryan Williams to trim HSU's lead to 14-4.

Northwest chipped away two more runs in the seventh.

Josef Keilholz hit a sacrifice fly to center that plated
Caden Opfer to slice the HSU advantage to 14-6.

The Reddies closed out the Bearcats by scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 10-run rule win, 16-6.

Northwest will take part in the MIAA/GLVC Crossover in Joplin, Mo., next weekend. Northwest will take on Truman State (Friday, 4 p.m.), Illinois Springfield (Saturday, 3 p.m.) and Quincy (Sunday, 10 a.m.) at Warren Turner Field in Joplin.
