ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team recorded a 5-4, walk-off win over St. Cloud State University at the Henderson State Invitational.
Northwest trailed 4-1 entering its final two at-bats. Northwest scored three in the eighth to draw even with the Huskies. Northwest's
Ryan Koski delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth.
St. Cloud State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as the Huskies knocked Bearcat starter
Jace Davidson out of the game after facing six batters.
The Bearcats began the comeback in the bottom of third when Koski knocked in his first run on a single to left field. Koski's hit scored
Cole Slibowski, who had reached after being hit by a pitch.
Brett Holden advanced Slibowski to second on a bunt single. Slibowski stole third before Koski knocked him in with one out in the third.
SCSU added its fourth run of the game in the seventh on a bases-loaded hit by pitch.
Northwest tied it up in the eighth with a three-run rally. Holden led off and was hit by a pitch.
Donovan Warren doubled to left field to advance Holden to third. Koski came through with a two-run single to center to pull Northwest to within one at 4-3.
Ryan Williams sacrificed Koski to second.
Tyler Peters kept the Bearcats rolling with a single to left that moved Koski to third. The Huskies attempted to turn a double play on a ground ball to second by
DeAunte Parker, but could only get the out at second allowing Koski to score the tying run.
Alex Slocum came on to pitch in the ninth and put SCSU down in order.
Jake Emhardt drew a walk to start the ninth. Emhardt moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt from Slibowski. Holden was hit by a pitch again to put runners on first and second. Warren lined out to second, setting the stage for Koski's heroics and walk-off single.
Koski finished his day going 3-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored.
Four members of the Bearcat bullpen limited the Huskies to six hits and on run after the three-run first.
