Junior guard Trevor Hudgins led all scorers with 24 points, his 65th career 20-point scoring game. Hudgins buried three treys to equal Joey Witthus's single-season Northwest record of 114 three-pointers made. Hudgins also needs five more triples to set the MIAA single-season three-pointers made mark.

Redshirt freshman Mitch Mascari took advantage of a season-high 27 minutes play to tally a career-high 11 points. Mascari scored all 11 in the first half on the strength of a trio of three-pointers. Mascari added two assists and a rebound in the win.

Redshirst freshman Isaiah Jackson equaled his career-high with 11 points. Jackson went 5-of-8 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds. Jackson also dished out an assist and tallied a steal.

The Bearcats shot 60.9% from the floor in the first half. The Bearcats knocked in 7-of-10 three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes as they took a 38-31 lead into intermission.

Northwest would lead by as many as 23 in the second half at 72-49 when head coach Ben McCollum gave Hudgins the rest of the night off. Southern put on full-court pressure after Hudgins exited which allowed the Lions to trim 12 points off the lead and fall by 11 at the buzzer.

The Bearcats next action is set for Saturday at Missouri Western. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. at the MWSU Fieldhouse in St. Joseph, Mo.
