NORTHWEST TO OPEN SEASON IN FLORIDA
The three-time defending national champion Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team will begin its 2022-23 season at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic at Jenkins Fieldhouse in Lakeland, Fla.
    The Bearcats will play their season opener Saturday at 7 p.m. (CT) against West Texas A&M. Northwest will take on Flagler on Sunday at 7 p.m. (CT).
    Tickets are on sale for the 2021 Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. Ticket prices are $25 Weekend Ticket, $15 for adults and free for children 12 and under, with all seats ticketed as general admission.

It's going to feel like the 2021 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight for the Bearcats in Florida. Northwest will be matching up against two teams it defeated en route to the 2021 NCAA national title.
    The Bearcats defeated West Texas A&M in the 2021 national title game, 80-54.
    Northwest secured a 77-46 win over Flagler in the 2021 national semifinal.

    Bernard has played in 136 games - trailing only Trevor Hudgins's school record of 139 games played.

    Bernard begins the 2022-23 season tied for the school record in wins with Ryan Welty, Kirk Finley, Tyler Dougherty and Trevor Hudgins at 131.

Senior guard Diego Bernard is in a class all by himself in the Bearcat men's basketball history.
    Bernard is the only Northwest player to have accumulated 1,200 points, 600 rebounds and 300 assists in his career.
    Bernard has tallied 1,668 points, 797 rebounds and 404 assists.
    Victor Coleman nearly became the first Bearcat in that class when he played at Northwest from 1981-84. Coleman posted 1,795 points, 586 rebounds and 467 assists.
