The Northwest Missouri State soccer team recorded a 1-0 victory against Newman Friday night.

Both teams were held scoreless through the first half. The Bearcats had 12 shots while holding the Jets to zero heading into halftime.

In the 81st minute,
Teagan Blackburn was able to put the ball into the lower right of the goal to give Northwest a 1-0 lead.

The Bearcats closed the game with this lead while also leading nearly every category of the game's statistics. Northwest had 19 shots to Newman's three. The Bearcats had 10 shots on goal and had a great defensive game allowing the Jet's just one shot-on-goal.

Kaylie Rock led the way in shots for Northwest with six.
Teagan Blackburn followed behind her with three. The duo of
Hannah Stirling and
Adell Gore each had two.

Lily Ellis added her eighth shutout this season while adding one save to her stats. Ellis is tied for the most shutouts by a Bearcat goalkeeper in a single-season with eight. Kira Lazenby tallied eight shutouts in the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
