Second-half surge propels Bearcats past Ichabods in MIAA Tournament, 3-0

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team steam-rolled the Washburn Ichabods with a three-goal second half to advance to the MIAA Tournament semifinals.

Northwest recorded a 3-0 triumph over Washburn Sunday at the Bearcat Soccer Pitch. It marks the eighth consecutive win for the Bearcats this season. Northwest's win on Sunday was the third MIAA Tournament victory in program history.
 
Both the Bearcats and Ichabods were held scoreless through the first half. Northwest had four shots to Washburn's six.
 
Less than a minute into second half action, Hannah Stirling found the back of the net for her ninth career goal. Stirling was assisted by Adell Gore for her third assist of the season.
 
In the 59th minute, Adell Gore placed herself in the scoring column off an assist by Sophie Cissell to put Northwest ahead, 2-0. This marked Gore's sixth goal of the season and Cissell's second assist of the season.
 
Sophie Cissell knocked in her fifth goal of the season off a Kaylie Rock assist at the 65:25 mark of the match.
  
Northwest finished the match with 18 shots to Washburn's nine. Kaylie Rock and Adell Gore both had a team high four shots.
 
Lily Ellis notched her 13th shutout of the season as she made six saves. She extended her shutout streak to seven in a row and has not allowed a goal in 640:51 of game time.
 
Northwest will play next Friday, November 4, in the MIAA semifinals against the winner of Emporia State versus Northeastern State. The match will take place in Warrensburg, Mo.
