MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 16-ranked Northwest Missouri State University football team scored nine points in the final 1:55 to post a 32-30 comeback win over the Washburn University Ichabods Saturday at Bearcat Stadium.

Northwest's Cole Lammel booted the game-winning 36-yard field goal with :02 left to lift the Bearcats to the victory. Lammel's kick completed a three-play, 36-yard drive. Kashan Griffin kickstarted the game-winning drive with a 38-yard kick return. Mike Hohensee hit Jamar Moya on a 20-yard pass play on first down to move the ball to the Washburn 42-yard line. Following a timeout, Hohensee then targeted Griffin for a 23-yard passing play to the Washburn 19-yard line. Northwest used its final timeout with :06 to set up the Lammel heroics.

Hohensee passed for a career-high 366 yards on 24-of-31 passing. He connected on four touchdown passes. It is his second 300-yard passing game of his career and the 66th time a Bearcat quarterback has surpassed the 300-yard passing mark in a game.

Griffin caught seven passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a kick 38 yards and a punt 22 yards. He gained 218 all-purpose yards in the game despite rushing for minus-5 yards on a reverse play. Griffin scored on a 53-yard toss from Hohensee in the second quarter and then on a 3rd-and-10 from the 13-yard line with 1:55 to play in the fourth quarter. His first touchdown gave Northwest a 16-3 lead and his second score put the Bearcats on top, 29-24.

Jamar Moya added 136 all-purpose yards on the day. Moya caught a team-high eight passes for 116 yards. Moya nabbed a 19-yard touchdown pass on the final play of the first half to give Northwest a 23-10 lead at the break.

Four Bearcats led the way defensively with six tackles a piece including Sam Phillips, Rhett Jordon, Elijah Green and Josh Turner. Phillips started the game's scoring with a sack of Washburn's Kellen Simoncic with 7:12 left in the first quarter to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead. Green tallied 2.5 quarterback sacks to give him 9.5 sacks on the season.

The Bearcat defense registered seven sacks in the game with Green leading the way with 2.5. Jake Fisher was credited with 1.5 sacks. Phillips, Kobe Clayborne and Zach Howard each recorded a sack as well.

The Bearcats put up 439 yards of total offense and 25 first downs. Washburn had 357 yards of total offense and 25 first downs. The Ichabods went 8-of-15 on third down conversions. Northwest was 5-of-11 on third down opportunities.

Following a scoreless third quarter, the offensives put up plenty of fireworks in the fourth quarter. Washburn pulled to within 23-17 on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Simoncic to Tyce Brown with 11:52 left in the game. Northwest marched 70 yards in 11 plays on a drive that consumed 5:14 and was finished off with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Hohensee to Griffin with 1:55 left. The two-point conversion failed and Northwest held a 29-24 advantage.

Washburn wasted little time in re-taking the lead with :24 left when Simoncic scored on a scramble out of the pocket to the right from 10 yards out on 4th-and-goal. The Washburn two-point conversion also failed leaving the Ichabods clinging to a 30-29 lead.

Cole LammelGriffin's kick return then kick-started Northwest's game-winning drive that culminated in the 36-yard field goal by Lammel with :02 left.
