The Missouri Southern Lions bested the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats in two games on Friday afternoon. The Lions took game one, 4-3 and game two, 8-2.
GAME ONE
The Bearcats fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, but scored three runs in the top of the fifth before allowing a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and the walk off run in the seventh inning.
Kaitlyn Weis took the loss (1-4) in the circle.
Olivia Daugherty, Weis,
Alexis Kump, and
Grace Jeffries recorded runs. Daugherty and Weis both hit home runs.
GAME TWO
The Bearcats held a 2-1 advantage over the Lions in the top of the third inning, but the Lions scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Lions scored another five runs in the bottom of the sixth innings to give themselves a comfortable lead heading into the seventh.
Ashleigh Creek took the loss (1-2) in the circle.
Jacee Winn was 2-for-3 at the plate while Daugherty, Weis,
Abby Nolte, Kump, and
Grace Ruehle all recorded hits.
The Bearcats take on Pittsburg State at 12 p.m. tomorrow in Pittsburg, Kansas.
