SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota - The No. 25-ranked Augustana Vikings scored a 4-2 win over the Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team Sunday in non-conference action.
The Vikings improved to 15-2 on the season, while Northwest fell to 10-5 overall.
Augustana captured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Northwest's No. 1 doubles pairing of
Vera Alenicheva and
Julia Aliseda won their seventh straight match to remain perfect this spring.
In singles play, Alenicheva and
Tessa Kwakernaak were the lone Bearcats to secure victories.
Alenicheva went three sets at No. 1 singles, but prevailed over Augie's Valeriya Monko, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. Alenicheva moved her spring singles record to 11-1 with the win.
Kwakernaak also sent three sets before disposing of Augie's Laura Arce Vieyra at No. 3 singles. Kwakernaak tallied a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win to gain her fifth singles win of the spring season.
Northwest will wrap up regular season and MIAA action Saturday, April 24, with a 1 p.m. match against Washburn in Topeka, Kansas.
