SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota - The No. 19-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team shut out the Augustana Vikings Sunday at the Huether Tennis Centre, 7-0.
Northwest won for the sixth time in seven tries and improved its season record to 12-3, while Augustana dropped its season mark to 4-8.
Northwest swept all three doubles matches for only the third time this season - the previous two times came against William Jewell (Feb. 20) and Emporia State (March 27).
Andrea Zamurri improved his singles mark to 14-0 in a three-set struggle with Augie's Cade Damgaard. Zamurri won the opening set 6-0, but dropped the second, 6-3. Zamurri recovered after losing only his fifth set of the season with a 6-0 triumph in the third.
Northwest won the other five singles matches in straight sets to secure the dual victory.
The Bearcats will finish their regular season Saturday, April 24, at 1 p.m. in Topeka, Kansas, against the Washburn Ichabods.
