The Northwest Missouri State soccer team moved to 2-3-1 overall with their 3-2 win over Washburn in overtime.
The Bearcats took the lead initially in the 39th minute with a
Bri Wawiorka goal. Northwest would control the rest of the half until Washburn's Tera Lynch scored off a free kick at 63:51 in the second half to tie the match, 1-1. Northwest would answer soon after in the 67th minute. Wawiorka's shot missed high and bounced back off the crossbar, giving
Teagan Blackburn the opportunity to put the header back in and retake the lead 2-1.
Northwest kept control of the game until Lynch scored her second goal of the day to tie the match at 2-2 with just over two minutes remaining in regulation.
Neither team recorded a shot on goal in the first half of overtime, but in the 106th minute, Wawiorka found the back of the net with her second goal on the day.
The Bearcats travel to Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State next weekend to wrap up regular season play. Make sure to stay up to date with all MIAA tournament updates at BearcatSports.com.
