The Northwest Missouri State softball team scored a win over Rockhurst in their second matchup at the Pitt State Classic.

After allowing the tying run in the top of the 5th inning to bring the score to 5-5, Northwest shut down the Hawks in the top of the sixth inning before Olivia Daugherty scored on Abby Nolte's single through the right side of the field. Kaitlyn Weis retired the side in her one-inning appearance with a strikeout and two fly-outs to center fielder Avery Anderson. 

Raven Defrain picked up the win and the save in the circle in 4 1/3 innings pitched, allowing just six hits and one run in her appearance. Hannah Blackford was 2-for-3 at the plate and also scored a run while Nolte went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Daugherty scored two runs to go along with two RBI and Weis had one hit in one at bat with two RBI after drawing three walks. As a team, the Bearcats scored six runs on eight hits. 

Northwest takes on Minnesota Duluth tomorrow morning in a rematch after dropping their first game to Bulldogs 11-1 in six innings. First pitch is set for 10 a.m.
