MARYVILLE, Missouri - The Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team took its season record to 4-3 with a 7-0 sweep of visiting Emporia State University Saturday on the Frank Grube Courts at the
Mark Rosewell Tennis Center.
Northwest also moved to 2-0 in MIAA action with the victory.
For the Bearcats as doubles go, so go the Bearcats. For the fourth time this season, Northwest captured the doubles point and for the fourth time this season the Bearcat won the dual.
Northwest won all three doubles matches. Northwest's No. 3 doubles team of
Tessa Kwakernaak and
Kaylyn Chleborad won their third straight match with a 6-2 win over ESU's Colby Fugit and Emma Biggs.
Vera Alenicheva kept her singles record clean with a straight sets win at No. 1 singles. Alenicheva is 7-0 this spring.
Kwakernaak secured her third straight singles victory with a 6-2, 7-6 win over ESU's Cyrielle Peyroche at No. 2 singles.Â
The Bearcat women, ranked No. 9 in the Central Region, will be back in action Thursday vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
