MARYVILLE, Missouri - The No. 23-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team moved to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the MIAA with a dual victory over the Newman Jets Friday afternoon on the Frank Grube Courts at the
Mark Rosewell Tennis Center.
The Bearcats posted a 6-1 win over the Jets. Northwest came into the match ranked No. 2 in the Central Region while Newman was ranked No. 7.
The Bearcats earned the doubles point with triumphs at No. 2 doubles from
Franco Oliva and
Andrea Zamurri and at No. 3 doubles from
Fabien Calloud and
Agustin Velasco.
Northwest continued its winning way in singles by taking five of the six matches. No. 1 seed
Andrea Zamurri moved his spring mark to 10-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Gustavo Gil.
Northwest will be back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Emporia State. The Hornets will enter ranked No. 8 in the region with a 6-0 record.
