MARYVILLE, Missouri - The Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team bounced back with a 4-3 win today over the Harding Bison on the Frank Grube Courts at the
Mark Rosewell Tennis Center.
Northwest moves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the MIAA this season. Harding is 5-3 overall and 0-1 in MIAA play.
The Bearcats had to overcome a 1-0 deficit in doubles play. The Bison scored wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while the Bearcats duo of Fabian Calloud and
Agustin Velasco won the No 3 doubles match.
Northwest did just that in singles play by scoring four wins to take the dual victory.
No. 1 singles player
Andrea Zamurri improved his spring record to 9-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Harding's Arthur Bellan.
Northwest's No. 2 player
Fabien Calloud took his spring mark to 8-1 with a three-set win over Harding's Dan Ortiz. Calloud won by scores of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
No. 3 singles featured Northwest's
Franco Oliva topping Harding's Morgan Salvan, 6-2, 6-2.
Northwest's
Agustin Velasco posted a straight-sets win at No. 6 singles over Harding's Bryce Walker, 6-1, 6-4.
The Bearcats will be back in action home next weekend with matches against Newman (Friday, 2 p.m.) and Emporia State (Saturday, 11 a.m.).
