MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State junior guard
Trevor Hudgins buried a school-record 11 three-pointers and tallied 40 points in a 90-57 win over Rogers State.
Northwest improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the MIAA.
Hudgins recorded his first 40-point scoring game of his career and came within four points of equaling the school single-game scoring record. Hudgins went 13-of-21 from the floor, which included 11-of-18 from three-point range. Hudgins also handed out five assists.

Daniel Abreu was the only other Bearcat to reach double-figure scoring as he tallied 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Abreu grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Mitch Mascari contributed off the bench with eight points on 2-of-2 shooting from three-point range. Mascari also made 2-of-3 free throws in 12:44 of action.

The Bearcats drained 62.0% from the field (31-of-50 FGs). Northwest shot 16-of-31 from three-point range (51.6%).
"We need to keep improving defensively, and I thought we did that tonight," head coach
Ben McCollum said. "Hopefully we can stay with the process and keep improving."

Northwest made its first eight field attempts of the game in running out to a 22-6 lead with 12:17 left in the first half. Rogers State scored the first field goal of the game to take a 2-0 lead only to see Northwest then hit them with a 20-2 run.

Northwest's biggest first-half lead came when
Luke Waters hit a layup right before the buzzer to put the Bearcats up 19 at 46-27.

Hudgins buried his first five three-point attempts in the second half as he helped Northwest build a 29-point cushion at 63-34 with 15:51 to play. Hudgins soon eclipsed his previous career-high of 36 points when he sank his school-record breaking 11
th three-pointer with 13:47 to play in the game.

Hudgins would add a layup with 10:14 to play to give him 40 points and Northwest a 72-40 bulge over the visiting Hillcats. Hudgins exited the contest with 7:19 to play and Northwest owned a 74-43 lead.

Spencer Schomers knocked in a pair of free throws with :23 left for his first points of the season that gave the Bearcats the final victory margin of 33 points at 90-57.
