Bearcats drop three-point barrage on Briar Cliff, 98-66

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 3-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball squad set a program record with 22 made three-pointers in its 98-66 Black Friday win over Briar Cliff at Bearcat Arena.

Northwest (6-1 overall) broke the previous mark for made three-pointers in a game of 20 vs. Manhattan Christian on Nov. 19, 2004. 

Sophomore Wes Dreamer also tied the individual single-game record with 10 made three-pointers as he equaled the mark set by Justin Pitts vs. Northeastern State on Nov. 30, 2017. Dreamer scored a career-high 32 points on 10-of-18 shooting from three-point range. Dreamer was 11-of-19 from the field as he added a dunk as well.

Junior Trevor Hudgins dished out his ninth career double-double with 17 points and 11 assists. Hudgins went 6-of-11 from the field, which included 5-of-10 from three-point range.

Freshman Luke Moustakas played 17 minutes and broke into the scoring column for the first time as a collegian. Moustakas scored 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Moustakas knocked in a trio of three-pointers.

Junior Diego Bernard hit for 15 points. Bernard was a perfect 6-of-6 at the three throw line. He also grabbed six rebounds, handed out two assists, notched two steals and swatted two shots.

The Bearcats started hot from distance and truly never cooled down against the Chargers. Northwest made 10 of its first 12 shots from three-point range to build a 32-18 with 8:42 left in the opening half. Northwest sank 14-of-18 three-pointers (77.8%) in the first half and led 54-31 at the break. Dreamer was 9-of-11 from the field in the opening 20 minutes, including 8-of-10 from distance to tally 26 first-half points. 

Northwest's lead reached 30 at 66-36 when Dreamer knocked in his 10th three-pointer of the game with 16:07 to play. Northwest's largest lead of the contest came at 89-51 following a triple from Moustakas with 7:16 on the clock.

Northwest will be back in action at home Thursday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. vs. Northeastern State to open up MIAA play.
