Senior forward
Alex Mausbach capitalized on a pass from sophomore
Kaylie Rock in double overtime to give Northwest Missouri State a 1-0 victory over Fort Hays State and a 2-0 weekend on the road. The Bearcats improved to 7-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in MIAA play.
Today's match featured strong defense that limited offensive opportunities for each side. Northwest was held to just eight total shots with four on goal while Fort Hays only recorded six shots with two on goal.
After two regulation periods and one overtime period, neither side had been able to find the goal. Northwest used offensive pressure early in the final overtime period to keep the ball on their offensive side of the pitch, which led Rock to find Mausbach on the right side ready to take the golden goal.
Northwest will stay on the road next weekend as they travel to Rogers State and Northeastern State.
