Trying to halt a four-game skid, the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team will travel to Colorado to take on UC Colorado Springs in a three-game weekend stint.

The Bearcats (5-6 overall) come into the series with the Mountain Lions batting .271 as a team, while holding their opponents to a .253 mark. The explosive Northwest offense has tallied 27 doubles on the year, inching closer to its 2019 total (100).
Sophomore
Jordan Peck leads the Northwest offense with a .371 batting average, notching seven doubles, a home run and six RBI on the season. Senior first baseman
Connor Quick is also having a standout year in the batter's box, owning a .368 batting average. In 28 at bats on the year (three more than Peck), Quick controls a team-high 14 hits including a double and a triple.
Sophomore righty
Alex Slocum leads the charge on the mound for the 'Cats, dealing seven innings pitched (five appearances). Slocum has allowed only one hit on zero runs allowed while striking out seven opposing batters. In addition, Slocum is blemish-free on the season with a record of 2-0.
Another notable standout on the bump is junior
Max Spitzmiller. Spitzmiller leads the Northwest pitching staff in strikeouts (18) with a win/loss record of 1-0. In 17 innings pitched, Spitzmiller owns a team-best 3.71 earned run average. Spitzmiller was named to the all-tournament team at the MIAA/GLVC Challenge.
Northwest will take the diamond against UC Colorado Springs Feb. 21 to begin the three-game series. First pitch Friday is set for 3 p.m. with live video and live stats available.
