The Northwest Missouri State University department of athletics is moving forward with its plan that could potentially allow its women's and men's basketball teams to play host to games with fans this winter in Bearcat Arena.
Under the leadership of Director of Athletics
Andy Peterson, Bearcats athletics is putting together an approach that would ensure games are played at home in a safe and responsible manner. The Bearcat basketball teams are currently scheduled to play 11 home doubleheaders this upcoming season.
With mitigation measures needing to be in place this year due to COVID-19, social distancing and face coverings will be required. Social distancing creates some issues with capacity, so Northwest is reaching out to its basketball season ticket holders to see how many are interested in attending games in Bearcat Arena.
This will allow Northwest to determine whether it can accommodate other fan groups who enjoy attending Bearcat basketball games, including student groups, pep band, cheerleaders, Bearcat Steppers and media.
Bearcat basketball season ticket holders should have received an email survey that will assist Northwest in moving forward with fans this season in Bearcat Arena.
If a Northwest basketball season ticket holder has not received the survey by Tuesday, Oct. 13, please contact Assistant Athletic Director for Administration
