Southwest Baptist defeats Northwest, 5-2

BOLIVAR, Missouri - The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat women's soccer team fell 5-2 to Southwest Baptist Sunday afternoon.

Southwest Baptist's Lexi Lanzafame scored goals in the fourth minute and in the 19th minute to put Southwest Baptist up 2-0 early in the match.

Raegan Edwards also scored a goal in the first period for Southwest Baptist in the 36th minute to advance the score to 3-0 over Northwest.

Kaitlyn Case put Northwest on the board in the 39th minute with a goal assisted by Tanith Beal. It was Case's second goal of the season.

Beal scored a goal in the 43rd minute assisted by Macy Heckadon to cut the Southwest Baptist lead to 3-2 at the end of the first period.

In the second period, Sheena Nichol scored in the 49th minute to advance the Southwest Baptist lead 4-2.

Edwards scored her second goal of the match in the 64th minute for Southwest Baptist to seal the win, 5-2.

Northwest took 14 shots and goalkeeper Grace Goetsch recorded six saves.

Northwest moves to 0-1-1 on the year so far. They will host their first home match Sep. 13 against Sioux Falls at 4 p.m.
