SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat women's soccer team battled the Drury Panthers Friday night to a 2-2 draw following a pair of scoreless overtime sessions.
Scoring in the 25th minute for the Bearcats was
Manuela Gonzalez, the Johnson County Community College transfer. Gonzalez went ahead with an assist from
Izzy Romano to put the Bearcats up 1-0 over the Panthers.
Drury answered in the 38th minute with a goal from Chloe Cash to tie the game at 1-1.
The Panthers added on to the score in the second period with a goal from Kayla Day in the 52nd minute to go up 2-1 on the Bearcats.
In the 78th minute, Bearcat
Kaitlyn Case scored the equalizer and was assisted by
Bri Wawiorka.
The score remained 2-2 through two overtimes, giving Northwest a tie to start off the season.
The Bearcats had 17 total shots, 5 shots on target and 6 saves.
Northwest will travel to Bolivar, Missouri, Sunday to take on Southwest Baptist at 2 p.m.
