WARRENSBURG, Missouri - The No. 7-ranked Central Missouri Jennies turned back the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat women's soccer team in the MIAA opener for both squads, 4-0.
Macy Ruffalo put the Jennies on the board with a goal early in the first half to grab a 1-0 lead over the Bearcats.
Kassie Newsom and Madi Poertner each recorded a goal right before the end of the first half to advance the UCM lead to 3-0.
In the second half, Madi Poertner found the back of the net again to secure the Jennies' win 4-0 over the Bearcats.
Northwest falls to 2-5-1 overall and 0-1-0 in MIAA play. The Bearcats will travel to Topeka, Kansas, Friday to face Washburn at 6 p.m.
NOTES: Goalkeeper Alexis Castillo recorded seven saves against the Jennies. The Bearcats had possession of the ball for 43% of the time and recorded eight total shots on goal. Freshman
