No. 30 Northwest defeats Nebraska-Kearney, 5-2

KEARNEY, Nebraska - The No. 30-ranked Northwest Missouri State University women's team went on the road and scored a 5-2 win at Nebraska-Kearney on Tuesday.

Northwest took a 1-0 lead in the dual by scoring wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

The Bearcats picked up four wins in singles play. No. 24-ranked Irene Recuenco posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Zhanel Turarbek at No. 2 singles. Merta Ferrando posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory over UNK's Sherry Sun at No. 3 singles.

Julie Rinderknech tallied a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over UNK's Claire Neil at No. 5 singles. Sara Grozdanovic notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over UNK's Pranathi Gannavaram at No. 6 singles. 

Northwest is 14-5 on the season and 5-3 in MIAA duals. Nebraska-Kearney is 13-12 overall and 2-6 in league action.
