The Northwest Missouri State baseball team has its sights set back on the GLVC for the second time during the 2019 season, preparing for a doubleheader showdown with Rockhurst. The contests will take place in Kansas City on Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m. at the Loyola Park Baseball Field. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was delayed by rain in Kansas City.
The Bearcats (18-22, 14-13 MIAA) are familiar with Hawk baseball (9-30, 5-22 GLVC), as the two squads have clashed on the diamond once already this season during the MIAA-GLVC Challenge, Feb. 14. In the first meeting, Northwest came out victorious, beating Rockhurst, 8-2.
Coming into the game, Northwest has dropped seven of its last eight games stretching back to April 9.Â
Junior first baseman
Connor Quick will look to extend his team-leading 24-game on-base streak and 17-game hitting streak. Quick currently holds the fourth-best batting average in the MIAA (.385) and fifth best on-base percentage (.459) in the league.

On the bump, junior pitcher
Quintin Van Ackeren continues to lead Northwest pitching with 63 innings pitched, allowing 45 runs (32 earned) on 79 hits and has the second most strikeouts (49). The lefty "ace" for the Bearcats has the second best ERA among Northwest pitchers (5.00). Junior
Joe Funkhouser has a team-leading strikeout total (51).
The Hawks come into the matchup searching for a win after being swept in three games by Maryville University.
