Baseball preps for three-game set at Pittsburg State

The Northwest Missouri State baseball team prepares to enter a three-day, three-game series against MIAA foe Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kansas.

The Gorillas (No. 6) sit just one spot ahead of the Bearcats (No. 7) in the conference standings.

Northwest (9-10, 5-4 MIAA) hopes to continue its winning ways after sweeping a series over Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo. a week ago. The Bearcats batted particularly well, controlling the No. 4 slot in the MIAA in team batting average (.272).

Junior first baseman Connor Quick and senior catcher Jay Hrdlicka share the No. 9 spot across the conference in runs scored (17). Hrdlicka also sits at ninth in the MIAA in hits on the season (25).

Junior pitcher Quinten Van Ackeren leads the Bearcats with 30 strikeouts, allowing 26 runs on 44 hits in 30.2 innings pitched.

Senior closer Trevor Dudar is tied for No. 13 in the nation in saves (4).
