KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The UMKC Roos women's basketball team recorded a 69-58 exhibition win over the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Tuesday in the Swinney Center.
Senior
Kendey Eaton scored a game-high 25 points. Eaton buried 7-of-11 field goals and went 10-of-11 at the free throw line.
Northwest started slow from the field making two of its first 16 field goal attempts, but only trailed 16-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Roos held a 33-23 lead at the half.
The Bearcats shot 46.2 percent in the third quarter and allowed the Roos only one made field goal in the final five minutes of the period.
Northwest outscored UMKC in the fourth quarter, 18-16.
Northwest shot 35.4 percent from the field, while UMKC shot 54.7 percent on 23-of-53 field goals.
The Bearcats led the nation in free throw percentage in 2018-19 and took advantage of trips to the line by draining 16-of-17 free throws (94.1 percent).
Northwest made eight three-pointers – three from
Jaelyn Haggard, two from
Erika Schlosser and one each from
Mia Stillman,
Kylie Coleman and Eaton.
Freshman
Paityn Rau grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
The Bearcats will open the 2019-2020 season on Nov. 8 in Kearney, Nebraska, against Wayne State. Tip is set for 5 p.m.
