WICHITA, Kansas – The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team dropped a road match against Newman Sunday, 1-0.

Newman's Vanessa Ortiz scored the only goal of the match in the first half to give the 1-0 edge over the Bearcats.

The Bearcats took 13 shots on goal, but were unable to answer as the Jets came away with the win, 1-0.

The Bearcats fall to 4-9-3 overall and 2-5-2 in conference play. They will host two home matches against Missouri Western and Missouri Southern next Friday and Sunday to conclude regular season play.

NOTES: Goalkeeper Alexis Serna Castillo recorded two saves against the Jets. Freshman Kaitlyn Case leads the squad with five goals … Teagan Blackburn has three … Izzy Romano, Alex Mausbach, Tanith Beal, Bri Wawiorka and Manuela Gonzalez have two goals each.
