MIAA Tournament title at stake Sunday


KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team will play Washburn University on Sunday, March 4, for the 2018 MIAA Tournament Championship. Tip off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at historic Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.

Northwest is 26-3 overall and is in search of the program's seventh MIAA Tournament title. The Bearcats are the tournament's top seed, winning their fifth-straight MIAA title. Earlier this season, Northwest beat Washburn at Municipal Auditorium in a non-MIAA game on Nov. 21, 86-78. The Bearcats picked up a 58-50 victory over the Ichabods in Topeka, Kan., on Feb. 10.

Under head coach Ben McCollum, Northwest is 12-4 all time in MIAA Tournament games and 1-0 against Washburn. He is 2-1 entering today in championship games. All time, Northwest is 5-3 against Washburn in the conference tournament and is an even 6-6 in title games.
